This is one lizard you will almost certainly come across out in the Australian outback! When they get spooked they're hard to miss, sprinting on their hind legs to a safer place. These agamid lizards can be found throughout the driest parts of Australia, mainly in the deserts of South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. They are semi-aboreal and very fast, with a long tail to give them stability while running on two legs. They are in highest abundance wherever there is water, like most desert animals.

I found this adorable young Galah, which allowed me to pick it up! Galahs, Eolophus roseicapilla, are a well known parrot across all of Australia. They are a kind of cockatoo and can survive well in pretty much every biome in the country, from desert to rainforest.

I found and caught a gentle female huntsman spider Isopedella inola, out near the MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia. It was a super hot day out in the desert. Like most spiders, huntsman's do not want to bite you. If you're gentle with your handling, spiders can be quite peaceful. Huntsman spiders however can be very fast, and if you're not careful they will definitely take the chance to run up a sleeve or into your hair.

I found this lizard just before sunset while out exploring in the Australian outback. The incredibly popular Central Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps). These dragons are kept as pets around the world, but are native to the deserts of Australia. They can grow quite large, to 60cm, and will puff out their beard and open their mouth when threatened.

The Desert Tree Frog or Little Red Tree Frog (Litoria rubella), filmed in Central Australia. It really is amazing how even sensitive animals like frogs can find a way to survive out in the scorching desert. This is my first video, if the colours seem a little strange - I was still figuring out the settings.
